What does custom mean?
Custom design is inherently more time-intensive than ready-to-wear, allowing for thoughtful development, precise fit, and refined execution. This includes - but is not limited to - blouse, pants, skirt, dresses, coats, gowns, suits, etc. This entails creating a garment using your measurements.
What is the process for custom designs?
1. The client gets in touch with us with design requirements for their specific events.
2. We get in touch to clarify details like timeline, silhouette, fabric, beadwork, etc.
3. We set up a meeting with the client to take measurements and finalize sketch. Here, we provide fabric swatches/options based on initial discussions with the client (i.e. color, fabric, fall).
4. A quotation is sent to the client for finalization.
5. Once pricing has been agreed on, client must make a 50% downpayment for the project to start.
6. We begin creating your design! First with a fitting toile/sample. This is usually done in lining fabric.
7. First fitting is scheduled accordingly. The goal of the first fitting is to ensure fit and proportions.
8. Revisions are made based on the result of the first fitting.
9. Subsequent fittings are scheduled with the client throughout the project.
10. Once all is done, delivery is made and balance is paid by the client.
How long does it usually take?
It depends on the design, fabric and other design details that go into your custom piece. Generally for blouses and bottoms it takes 3 to 4 weeks. For dresses and gowns, 4 to 8 weeks. For wedding, prom and other special gowns please give us at least 3 months from the beginning of a project until it's completion and delivery.
Why does it take so long? Why is it so expensive?
Because each custom design is made specifically for you, the process involves multiple stages—from concept and fitting to construction and finishing. Custom pieces require a thoughtful design and production process. Unlike ready-to-wear garments, each piece is carefully developed, fitted, and finished—allowing time for precision, refinement, and quality craftsmanship.
